Prosthodontics. It’s such a big word! Let’s break it down.
The technical definition is “The branch of dentistry concerned with the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth and other parts of the mouth.”
All of that is true, but at Ozark Prosthodontics, we think of that word a bit differently. While this definition is accurate, we believe a few words are missing —words like listening, as well as learning, and understanding. Because, even before a patient walks into our office, we have already listened to their story and learned of their struggles. As prosthodontists, we understand that a lot of our patients have already begun a long journey, desperately seeking to find out what is happening with their oral health.
As we like to say at Ozark Prosthodontics, we are changing lives, one smile at a time!
When we think of a prosthodontics patient, we think of someone who hasn’t shown their real, genuine smile in years … or maybe ever. We think of someone who’s unable to enjoy delicious foods because they can’t chew properly, and eating is just too painful. We think of someone who’s dreading their first job interview because they’re self-conscious about their smile. We think of someone who has been from doctor to doctor trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with them. We see all of these “someones” every day. They are now and will forever be a part of the OP family!
One big misconception about prosthodontics is that we are just meeting our patient’s cosmetic needs. While we do want you to have the most gorgeous smile in the world, we view a fully functional mouth as one of the most important aspects of the human experience.
How we do prosthodontics.
Here, at Ozark Prosthodontics, we are one of the few prosthodontics facilities in the world with an in-house prosthodontist and ceramist in the same location. You might be thinking…what does that even mean? A ceramist is a professional who is part doctor and part artist. Our ceramists can color match prosthetics to match you and your smile perfectly! Every smile, crown, bridge is customized to you, and only you! The benefit of having these two incredibly talented people under the same roof is that they work together to ensure the results are comfortable, functional, and beautiful!
Prosthodontics. Yes, it is big word, but it is an important part of who we are at Ozark Prosthodontics. But if you want to keep it short and sweet, our friends and family just call us “OP!”
